The Matterhorn from Zermatt

The Matterhorn from Zermatt

Possibly the most famous peak in Switzerland is the Matterhorn towering over the village of Zermatt. The 14,693 foot Matterhorn (literally meadow-peak) was first successfully climbed July 14, 1865, by Edward Whymper and party.

Here we can see the familiar peak from the village of Zermatt. Watch for more photos from the book “Switzerland In View” to come.
